One of my favorite artists is Mary Blair. You might recognize her for her Alice in Wonderland concept art. She also helped create the artistic style for Cinderella and Peter Pan.
Mary's art is dreamy and colorful, evoking whimsical feelings and flights of fancy. I've always been a daydreamer so of course I find her concept art warm and fun. Nevermind the appeal of escaping into fantasy, her colors alone evoke feelings of joy and whimsy. I can only hope that my paintings help viewers feel even a fraction of the cozy escape I find in Mary Blair's concept art.

The very first time I ever painted plein air, we were visiting the Mogollon Rim. We had visited before and the expansive views combined with the plethora of vegetation inspired me. I painted a few pieces from photos I took of course, but there's just something about painting plein air. I look forward to painting a larger piece next time.
